This year we have invited lots of fabulous guest teachers and performers, from Oxford and from further afield, to teach new moves, skills and dances during our workshops and put on some amazing shows at the evening party.

DJ
Mauricio Reyes
Originally from Latin America but based in Birmingham (UK), Mauricio Reyes is the founder of Latin Motion, the biggest salsa outfit in the Midlands since it was established in the early 1990's. A dedicated salsa DJ, dance instructor and promoter for well over a decade, Mauricio has been awarded 'Top UK Salsa DJ', 'Top Regional Promoters' and 'Services to Salsa' awards at the 2003 congresses and 'Top UK Salsa DJ' (2007 UK International Salsa Congress).
Mauricio will also be teaching a Bachata workshop at 3pm.
Teachers and Performers
Rosa and Giles
Rosa and Giles run the On Salsa Dance Company, teaching salsa classes in Oxford and coaching their performance group as well as the Oxford University Salsa Team. They also perform with the Ignite Dance Company.
Rosa and Giles will be teaching a Beginners On1 Turn Patterns workshop at 2pm.
Miguel and Mayana
Miguel Rico and Mayana are regarded as one of the most passionate, charismatic and respected salsa dancers and teachers in UK and abroad. They teach and perform salsa On1 LA style, On2 NY style as well as On2 Puertorico Style, always bringing a fun, relaxed
and supportive atmosphere into their classes. What really makes Miguel and Mayana stand out is their unique dance style; Miguel's flavour and charisma combined with Mayana's playfulness and elegance.
Miguel and Mayana will be teaching a Intermediate/Advanced On1 Turn Patterns workshop at 2pm, and will also be performing at the evening party.
Shelley Cook
Shelley is widely acknowledged as one of the rising talents on the UK scene. She trains and performs with many of the UK’s top dance troupes, including the Leon Rose Project, Iris de Brito and her Latin Soul Sisters, and the Manhattan Mambo Dancers. Shelley has appeared on stage at the UK Salsa Congress 2003 and 2004 and recently reached the finals of the Tropicana Professional World Salsa Championships 2004 with Lee Wright.
Shelley will be teaching a Spinning workshop at 4pm.
Mark and Lisa
Lisa and Mark teach On2 salsa at many venues across Oxford as SalsaOxford, with emphasis on the conga and the clave, the instruments which define "salsa" music. They also perform as ConTambor, train the ConTambor performance group, and run regular party nights in Oxford - The Clave Club.
Mark and Lisa will be teaching a Salsa On2 workshop (suitable for all levels) at 4pm.
Mauro and Eva
Mauro and Eva will be performing at the evening party, and Mauro will also be teaching a Cha Cha workshop at 3pm.
Irene Miguel
Salsa champion, fitness instructor, professional dancer, teacher, choreographer and performer.
Irene will be teaching an Intermediate/Advanced Salsa On1 Class at the evening party.
Julian and Elaine
Our very own Salsa teachers! Julian and Elaine teacher On1 salsa for OUSS on Mondays at Somerville college. Julian also DJs at various locations in Oxford, including Anuba and Bar Risa.
Julian and Elaine will be teaching a Beginners Salsa On1 lesson at the evening party.
Oxford University Salsa Team 2008/9
Coached by Rosa and Giles from On Salsa, the OU Salsa Team perform across Oxford at balls, dance shows and charity events. They are available for performances of line style routines, rueda and social dancing, and can also get your guests dancing by teaching short beginners lessons and taxi dancing at your event.
