The Committee 2008/9

President

Jacintha Sugnaseelan

Hi! I’m Jacintha, a third year DPhil student in Developmental Biology and a proud Hildabeast. I love dancing! I do various types of dances, but am addicted to SALSA. It’s a good and fun way to de-stress from work, and meet new people. I’m also on our fabulous OU Salsa Team, and enjoying every single minute dancing!!!

Vice-President

Alexandru Dafinca

Hola! I am Alexandru, a third year Physicist from Merton. I am addicted to salsa since the beginning of my course in Oxford. It is an awesome way of meeting people, staying fit and developing your coordination and feeling for the Latin rhythms!
This year I am your Vice-President and in my position I hope to contribute to the society such that YOU will have the best salsa experience possible.

Secretary

Kasia Punovuori

Hi! I’m Kasia, a second year PPE student at St. Catz College and Secretary for the Salsa Society here at Oxford University. I entered my first ever salsa class by mistake, but loved learning it and dancing it, and have been passionate about salsa ever since. I find the way in which salsa combines a rhythm, a melody, movement and two people together simply fascinating. Hope you’ll find salsa just as enjoyable as I do, and I’ll see you on the dance floor!

Treasurer

Clio Chu

Hey! I'm Clio, a fourth year Merton mathmo. My passion for salsa began when I came to Oxford and has been growing ever since. It's a wonderful way to keep fit, meet new people and escape from the stresses of Oxford student life!!

Webmaster

Rebekah Smith

Hey, I'm Rebekah and I'm a 2nd year DPhil student studying Particle Physics. Two years ago I finally decided to try for the salsa team despite finals (got my priorities right eventually ;-)) and loved it! I'm now completely addicted and between Salsa, Belly (jingle jingle) and any other dance I'm trying at the time, dance practically every night of the week:-)! Give it a try!

Team Captain

Polly Jarman

Events Coordinator

Pia Wojtinnek

Hey, I'm Pia, a 1st year DPhil student in Computer Science and I'll be doing my best to provide an active Salsa life in Oxford with lots of enjoyable events for you. In good old Cologne, Germany, my hometown, I started dancing Salsa years ago and still simply can't get enough of it! Join me at Anuba, lessons or special events and I'm sure you'll also become an addict.

Publicity

Ksenia Peterneva

Hi! I’m Ksenia, I’m a research assistant at the Pharmacology department and the publicity officer for the University Salsa Society. I’ll try and make sure you know about all the salsa events in Oxford. I’ve been doing salsa for two years and from the first lesson I have become addicted to the dance! Give it a go, I’m sure you’ll love it as much as I do!
