About Us
Elaine
Ola! My Name is Elaine and I discovered Salsa about 3 years ago when I moved to Oxford from Kilmarnock, Scotland. Salsa is a huge passion; amazing music, amazing dance-moves and the most amazing people! I love being on the team and I am looking forward to the year ahead! See you on the dance-floor!x
Kris
Kris (DJ Emaji) is renown as a dance instructor and for his superlative taste in music. He first encountered salsa dance while living in New York City back in 2006 and has been an evangelist ever since. Known for his unique and innovative salsa style and music interpretation, Kris is 'hard salsa' to the core. Currently on extended vacation from NYC, he will be spinning the best in Salsa Dura and Latin Jazz in the Main Room and the hottest Bachata and Kizomba in the Chill-out Lounge at our Salsa Ball 2011!
Aurelie
Aurelie started dancing as a little girl, back in lovely France, and tried a variety of dances while growing up; but it¹s in England she finally met the love of her life, Salsa! As soon as she hears those beats, she can¹t help but move, and her favourite place in the world will always be a dance floor. She loves salsa in all its forms and enjoys switching between Cuban, Rueda, LA and New York style and the occasional bachata or Kizomba. She never misses the OUSS Wednesday club night at Anuba, and is at lessons most Monday nights too, so chances are she'll get to meet you all at some point. She can't wait! Xx
Elena
Elena discovered salsa a couple years ago, and has been trying to learn to dance it, without tripping, falling, landing in a split, or something even worse that even her imagination cannot invent. Avoid her for your own safety :)
Liutauras
Despite having discovered Salsa less than a year ago, in search of better things to do than his freshman Physics, Liutauras soon became a sudden aficionado and a devotee to weekly Salsa lessons. Although himself denying it, his friends are well assured they saw him practising his beginner Salsa spins just days before Exams! Now committed to helping out the Salsa Society, he's also hoping to learn to dance Salsa well enough for it not to look like a failed attempt at Swing Dance!
Alex
Alex has started learning salsa in 2006 when he first came to Oxford for his undergrad. He has since tried Cuban style, line style on1 and has fallen in love with on2, preferably danced on salsa dura. Since 2007 he performs with the University Salsa Team and has served as its captain in 2010/11. He attends religiously the salsa nights on Wednesdays in Anuba and encourages anyone who wants to learn salsa to practice social dancing as much as possible.
