Rosa & Giles, Coaches

Onsalsa brings together two of the UK's favourite Salsa dancers; Rosa and Giles . Their dance partnership was formed in 2000 and with a background in ballet, jazz and salsa/mambo, they were able to establish themselves as good teachers, dancers and choreographers. Together, they have been teaching and performing throughout the UK (including the UK Salsa Congress) and abroad (France) to bring you good tuition, coaching and spectacular new shows full of style and energy that will captivate and enthrall.

Cyrus Suntook, Team Captain

Hi! I'm Cyrus, a 2nd year Maths and Philosophy student at St Peter's. I have been doing salsa for just over a year now and have enjoyed every minute of it. If you're even slightly interested, drag a couple of friends along and give it a try - you won't regret it!

If anyone has any questions about the team, please do not hesitate to contact me: cyrus.suntook@spc.ox.ac.uk

Rebekah Smith - Vice Captain

Hey, I'm Rebekah and I'm a first year DPhil student studying Particle Physics. This is my 5th year in Oxford now and I've been dancing salsa since I arrived. Last year I finally decided to try for the team despite finals (got my priorities right eventually ;-)) and loved it! I'm now completely addicted and between Salsa, Belly (jingle jingle) and any other dance I'm trying at the time, dance practically every night of the week:-)!

Julia Harris - Entz Manager

Julia, a 3rd yr PPP student at Univ, has always loved all types of dance, but has recently become obsessed with salsa because of the music and the social dancing. She thinks she's more into New York than LA, and LA than Cuban, but has spent a couple of years confusing herself. Being on the team has proved a great opportunity for Julia to become less confused, but brings new uncertainties like, can she triple spin and wiggle her bum at the same time? Hmmm.

If you would like us to perform at your event, please do not hesitate to contact her: julia.harris@univ.ox.ac.uk

David Goodstone - Entz Manager

Hi! I'm David, an English Literature finalist at Worcester. I fell in love with this form of dance after seeing it performed in Cuba and I haven't looked back since. It's really exhilarating to dance salsa, as it can be intimate, flamboyant, playful and purely joyful.

If you would like us to perform at your event, please do not hesitate to contact me:

Hi! I'm Eleni and I'm from Athens, Greece, and at the moment finishing my DPhil in Astrophysics. I've been dancing salsa for 2 years and my favourite part about salsa, apart from learning new moves and performing, is social dancing on a variety of salsa music...as well as bachata and reggaeton!:) So see you on the dance floor!

Hello potential salsa converts! I am Tumena, a first year DPhil student in Clinical Medicine from St Cross College. I have been dancing on and off for a few years now. It has proven to be a fun distraction from work and a great way to meet new people, particularly when you move to a new area. Hope to see you all on the dance floors across Oxford!

Alexandru Dafinca

I am Alexandru, a second year Physicist from Merton. I am addicted to salsa since the beginning of my course in Oxford. It is an awesome way of meeting people, staying fit and developing your coordination and feeling for the Latin rhythms! And being on the team means you get all these people staring at you during performances and admiring the way you move.

Jo Davies

Heyloooo! I'm Jo and I'm a DPhil student at Worcester working on Statistical Genetics (when I'm not dancing!). I was introduced to salsa by a friend last year and haven't stopped since. Salsa is just awesome and I am firmly addicted! I hope you enjoy it too!

Hi! I am Ling, a 3rd year DPhil student at St. Anne's working towards a quantum computer. I love a variety of dancing such as Chinese folk dancing (Xinjiang dance), Rumba, Cha-cha, Jive... But my favourite dance has become salsa since last year. Dancing in the OU Salsa Team for me is... eyes wide open. With all the excellent dancers, I realize that I can dance with my body, create my own language, express my own feeling... Curtains open, lights on you, come and join us in the salsa fiesta!

Artemis Seaford

Hey! I'm Artemis, a 2nd year PPEist from New College. I come from Greece originally, so it is only natural that my Mediterranean roots drew me to this passionate and sexy Latin dance! I have been dancing for a year now, and I have loved every minute of it. The best part is the social aspect: it is a great way of meeting new people. Check out the great salsa nights out in Oxford this year!
